Janssen makes absurd Tottenham claim

Vincent Janssen has made the claim that he left Tottenham Hotspur in order to win trophies.

The Dutchman left Tottenham to join Fenerbahce on loan following the arrival of Fernando Llorente from Swansea City on transfer deadline day.

Janssen fails to mention the fact that his real reason for leaving is the fact that he would hardly get any first-team football at Tottenham this season, with him being at best, third in the attacking pecking order at the club.

His comments have a bit of the Brendan Rodgers about them – anyone can go to a lesser league to win trophies, just look at him at Celtic compared to the Premier League.

He has scored two goals in his first two games in the Turkish league, including one in in Fenerbahce’s derby victory against Besiktas.

“I left Tottenham to win trophies here, that is my main drive,” Janssen told reporters.

“I have never won a trophy in my career so that is my goal.

“I really want to win a trophy here, the whole team is driven for success.”
