Jermaine Jenas identifies two midfielders who Spurs should sign

Former Tottenham Hotspur player Jermaine Jenas has identified two midfielders that the club should look to sign in the summer.

Spurs have looked light in the midfield department for vast periods of the current season having lost Mousa Dembele to China while Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama and Harry Winks have all had their issues with injury.

Dele Alli has at times had to play in a more deeper role when his natural game is to play further up the field; while some have criticised Dele’s performances this season they have overlooked his sacrifice to the team.

Jenas believes that Spurs should turn their attention to Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucouré along with Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi.

Despite being just 22, Ndidi has impressed for the Foxes by providing protection to their defence with 324 occasions of recovering the ball.

Doucoure, 26, has been a standout performer for the Hornets over the past couple of seasons, and he was named the club’s Player of the Season for 2017/18.

Jenas told BT Sport Score on 12/05/2019: “I can see Leicester getting attacked at some point this year. Ndidi has had a good season. In line with Doucoure at Watford. These are the midfielders that Spurs, United could do with.”
