J’Neil Bennett takes to Twitter after scoring first goal at the Spurs stadium

Tottenham Hotspur youngster J’Neil Bennett etched his name in the club’s history earlier today when he became the first player to score a goal at the new stadium.

The 17-year-old picked up the ball on the left flank in the 11th minute of the Under 18’s match against Southampton and cut inside to curl a beautiful shot beyond Southampton goalkeeper Jack Bycroft.

It was a memorable moment for both the player and supporters after waiting patiently for the stadium to open after incurring delay after delay.

Bennett took to Twitter to express his delight at scoring the goal and also to share his pride of being part of the Tottenham setup.

John McDermott’s side ended up as 3-1 winners courtesy of additional goals from and Harvey White (penalty) and Dilan Markanday.

A further test event will be held at the stadium next Saturday when the Tottenham legends take on an Inter Milan side.
