Jonathan Woodgate on Leeds vs Spurs

Jonathan Woodgate will watch both of his former employers do battle on Sunday in the FA Cup and is expecting it to be a close match.

Spurs travel to Elland Road to take on Leeds United in the FA Cup fourth round and the central defender believes that Spurs will be in for a hostile reception off the Leeds crowd.

Woodgate is most fondly remembered during his time at Spurs for scoring the winning goal in our League Cup final win against Chelsea. It was a shame he suffered such an injury-hit time during his three years with us as there was no doubting his qualities as a defender. He managed 49 appearances, scoring two goals.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Woodgate said, “It is a massive FA Cup game for both teams.

“It will be a full house and I know Tottenham won`t fancy going there because it will be hostile and Leeds are a good side, so it should be a good game.

“Leeds and Spurs as always been a good game and I am sure Sunday will be no different.

“I think it will be a really tight game and probably go to a replay.

“When you play at Elland Road, the fans are the twelfth man and they are very hostile and they really help the players.”
