Tottenhan coach Joe Jordan believes the arrival of new signings such as Emmanuel Adebayor and Scott Parker have helped convince the squad of Spurs’ ambition.
But the Scot highlights the importance of qualifying for the Champions League football in attracting and retaining big names.
“What you can see is an improvement in the squad and the team,” he said.
“We are demonstrating that we have a chance of fulfilling the ambitions of individual players, which is to get in the Champions League.
“The fans love it and I love it, but more than anything the players want to play at the top level, facing sides like Real Madrid, AC Milan.
“The Champions League is huge money to the club. The rewards are there as well if we reach the Champions League because we have the players, or we hope to have the players.
“Qualifying for the Champions League is not only important for keeping players, but also for enticing new ones in.
“It is the top level and is what we are striving for.”
