Journalist claims Spurs player has strongly hinted that he will not return to club

Tottenham Hotspur confirmed on Sunday that Juan Foyth had joined Villarreal on a season long loan deal.

As part of the announcement, it was also revealed that the Argentine had penned a new deal in North London to keep him contracted at the club until 2023.

The 22-year-old moved to North London from Estudiantes three years ago and has gone on to make 32 appearances in all competitions for Spurs, however, he has not featured since last December (transfermarkt).

Foyth took to Twitter yesterday to send a post a farewell message after completing his switch to La Liga in which he claimed he hoped his path crosses with Spurs again in the future.

Football.London claim that the Spanish side have the option to make the deal permanent for a £13.5million fee should Foyth and Villarreal both want it to happen.

PA Sport journalist Jonathan Veal has suggested that Foyth may have strongly hinted within his message that he may not return to Jose Mourinho’s side at the end of the campaign.
