Journalist reveals Spurs midfielder misses out against West Ham due to injury

The Athletic journalist Charlie Eccleshare has taken to Twitter to reveal that Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Erik Lamela misses out against West Ham United this afternoon due to a knock.

Lamela started Tottenham’s last match prior to the international break when he played a pivotal and controversial role in the 6-1 win against Manchester United.

The Argentine was heavily involved in Tanguy Ndombele’s equaliser and was also the instigator in his bust-up with Anthony Martial which saw the United forward shown a straight red card.

Lamela has had more than his fair share of injury problems during his time in North London and fans will be hoping that he is fit and ready to return to the squad for Thursday night’s Europa League clash against LASK.

Competition for places in the attacking third of the pitch is certainly hotting up following the arrival of Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinícius to complement the likes of Steven Bergwijn, Lucas Moura, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.
