Kane is Real Madrid’s primary objective reveals former chairman

Real Madrid are prepared to put their pursuit of Harry Kane on hold and instead try to sign another proven European striker.

The Sun are reporting that the Spanish giants will switch their focus to Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, according to former president Ramon Calderon.

Madrid are known to be huge admirers of the Spurs striker following his goalscoring exploits and impressive displays against the Champions League holders this season. However, Spurs are said to be prepared to reject any bids for their star player as they prepare for life in the new stadium next season.

Kane has said previously that he is happy to stay at the club as long as they are prepared to match his ambitions, which certainly puts the ball in the court of Daniel Levy to ensure that Kane does not have to move to win trophies.

Calderon told SunSport: “The objective for Real Madrid, no doubt, is Kane.

“If they want a player for the next five or six years they are going to go for Kane but [Spurs chairman Daniel] Levy is going to ask a fortune for him.

“As far as I know, Tottenham is not willing to let him go but Bayern also say Lewandowski is not going anywhere.

“[Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz] Rummenigge has said he can bet that he will be in Bayern next season but we have heard that so many times, and in my experience it is the player who has the final decision of where to go.”
