Wimmer confirms Spurs switch

Tottenham have completed the £4.3million signing of Cologne defender Kevin Wimmer and the player will officially join the club in June.

Wimmer confirmed the move after his side’s draw with Wolfsburg on Saturday and told the German media: ‘I go to Tottenham, it is the next step in my development.

‘I don’t mind whether they make the Europa League. I go to Tottenham, to go to the next level.’

Mauricio Pochettino is expected to part company with Younes Kaboul and Vlad Chiriches as he looks to strengthen his options at the heart of the Tottenham defence, with another centre-half said to be on his shopping list.

Etienne Capoue, Benjamin Stambouli, Paulinho, Mousa Dembele, Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor are all rumoured to be potentially on their way out of White Hart Lane. It’s frankly embarrassing that our recruitment policy has seen us waste millions of pounds.

Hopefully the appointment of Paul Mitchell can restore some respect to our transfer dealings.
