Key Spurs trio to be assessed for Monaco match

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is sweating on the fitness of three key players ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League game against Monaco.

Harry Kane will be assessed after he played the whole match against West Ham on Saturday, having only just returned from an ankle injury, while a late decision will also be made on Dele Alli and Mousa Dembele.

“It’s clear that tomorrow is the most important game,” Pochettino said.

“Our selection for tomorrow will be if the players that are fit or not, that can play 90 minutes or not.

“We need to assess Harry Kane, Mousa Dembele and Dele Alli, if they can play 90 minutes and don’t take any risks that can affect for the next games.

“We have one day less than Monaco to recover because they play Friday, we play Saturday. Today is a very important day to assess and see if the players are fully recovered to play tomorrow.”

Alli has been struggling with a knee injury and Dembele has a niggling foot problem. Erik Lamela (hip), Toby Alderweireld (leg) and Ben Davies (ankle) are all out.

Provisional squad: Lloris, Vorm, Lopez, Rose, Vertonghen, Carter-Vickers, Wimmer, Walker, Trippier, Dier, Wanyama, Winks, Dembele, Eriksen, Alli, Sissoko, Onomah, Nkoudou, Son, Janssen, Kane.
