Lawro predicts Spurs to lose at Norwich

BBC football pundit Mark Lawrenson has predicted that Spurs will lose to Norwich City on Wednesday night.

Spurs travel to Carrow Road looking tot get back on track following the disappointing FA Cup exit to Leeds on Sunday, but Lawro thinks it will be more woe for AVB.

He told BBC Sport Online: “Both of these teams went out of the FA Cup at the weekend to opponents from lower leagues – or non-league in the case of the Canaries’ conquerors, Luton.
They will want to put those results behind them with a victory in the Premier League, but Tottenham have problems up front with Jermain Defoe struggling with an injury and Emmanuel Adebayor away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

“Spurs played without a centre-forward against Leeds and got turned over. There is only one team in the world that can play with a ‘false nine’ and that team plays in Spain.

“Clint Dempsey is a good player but he is an attacking midfielder, meaning he is used to arriving late in the box unmarked and taking his chance. But playing on his own means he is already in the box so it is a completely different role for him.

“Norwich certainly need a win having taken just a point from their last six games. They were unlucky not to win against Spurs in the away fixture earlier in the season and manager Chris Hughton is a Tottenham lad so will very much be up for the game.

“Lawro’s prediction: 1-0.”

  1. This guy has always been a prat and always will be! I have never taken what he says on board and nobody should! Cos he's a prat!
    COYS

  2. Methinks Lawro has forgotten that Defoe plays for Spurs. Lawrenson-the man who provides credibilty to those who think footballers are thick.

  3. If you look at his predictions for last season, if he was right; Liverpool would've won the league, and Spurs would've been relegated. Enough said really.

  4. When i watch Match of the day, i get frustrated because they never say anything good abou tottenham and when they have no other ption, tey seem to do so reluctantly. All the pundits are so far up Liverpool, Arsenal, Man U and Man city's arse its frustating.

  5. Lawro, the guy whose sole contribution to commentary is to occasionally interject with some negative, snide, & unpleasant description of things everyone has already seen. Analysis isn't his strong point, being an utterly pointless idiot is.

  6. Wasn't Lawro done for behaving in a similar fashion to Arsene Wenger and Len Fairclough when he was manager of Oxford United? 'nuff said.

  7. Neither him or Hansen like Spurs and will say anything to put them down
I think it is because they took Liverpools place amongst the elite.

  8. We shouldn't be too touchy. I think he was basing it on Spurs lack of striking options what with Adebayor at the ACON and initial reports that Defoe might be out for a long time when it's only emerged today he's okay. Also I'm always more nervous when he tips us to do well, hehe! ;)

  9. I agree he’s an idiot but Chris, that’s a massive exaggeration! His predictions put liverpool nowhere near winning the league and us nowhere near relegation

  10. I think it's long time that Lawro should have stopped talking bow locks about football as if anyone actually gave a toss, and got a job doing something more constructive more suited to his 'obvious' talents.I'm thinking as an extra in The Hobbit! He'd definitely be benefiting the game we know and love a whole lot more.Thing is,I bet that somehow he'll be reckoning Liverpool are going to edge it at the Emirates regardless of them being knocked out of the cup by a team from league 1.Mark Lawrenson, you Sir…..are a CUNT!
