“Let’s see if he has some good players” – Manager hints at Spurs loan agreement with Mourinho

Recently appointed Birmingham City boss Aitor Karanka has hinted that he may approach Jose Mourinho to loan some of his players.

The former Middlesbrough manager was unveiled as Blues boss late last month to replace Pep Clotet.

Karanka revealed that Mourinho called him to congratulate him on his appointment at St Andrews ahead of Birmingham facing Tottenham in a pre-season friendly in North London on August 29th.

The Spaniard spent three years as the former Chelsea manager’s assistant at Real Madrid and has previously described Mourinho as the best manager in the world (Marca).

Karanka was quick to remind the media that Mourinho had sent him of his younger players to Middlesbrough while he was in charge and dropped the hint that he is hopeful that another agreement can be made to bring some of Tottenham’s young talent to Birmingham.

Oliver Skipp and Jamie Bowden have both been linked with loan moves away from Spurs this summer (Football Insider).

‘He called me to give me his congratulations when I arrived here. When he was at Chelsea we took on loan good players [at Boro]. Let’s see if he has some good players who can come,’ Karanka told the Daily Mail.
