Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal to sign Lewis Holtby from Schalke in July subject to a medical.

The 22-year-old midfielder, whose father Chris is from Liverpool, will move to White Hart Lane at the end of the season when his contract expires with the German club.

A Spurs statement read: “We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Germany Under-21 captain Lewis Holtby to join the club in July from Bundesliga side Schalke, subject to a medical.”

Holtby is our second transfer signing of the January window following Zeki Friers arrival yesterday.

  1. Not sure why Levy (reportedly) wants a Director of Football in place at Spurs, when he seems to be doing a pretty good job without one..i.e Sandro, Vertonghen, Walker, Naughton, Lloris, Holtby etc.

More proof, if needed, that the Chairman deserves his own song (and maybe even a statue) for what he continues to do for this club. Tottenham were going nowhere before DL showed up! Since then, we have played CL football, enhanced our reputation tenfold (both domestically and abroad) , attracted some of the best young talent in the game to play for us, built a state-of-the training ground and are now in the process of developing a new stadium (all while balancing the books).

Without question the most important figure at the club. Long may his reign continue!!!
