Liverpool send Spurs a classy message following Champions League

Tottenham Hotspur came up short against Liverpool in the all-English battle for the honour of being crowned as the champions of Europe.

Liverpool won a controversial penalty inside 30 seconds which Mo Salah converted from the spot before substitute Divock Origi wrapped up the win late on with a strike into the bottom corner of the net.

Despite both goals, it was Tottenham who has the better of the match and possession but failed to make it count in the final third of the pitch.

It was a heartbreaking end for what has been a rollercoaster of a European campaign for Tottenham yet just didn’t threaten enough on the night even with Harry Kane recalled to the starting line up in place of Lucas Moura who can feel aggrieved to have lost his place considering his heroics in the semi-final against Ajax.

Liverpool took to Twitter earlier today to offer their thanks to Tottenham in what is a classy gesture from the Anfield outfit.

  1. I am very disappointed in our fans following this loss. It was not our best performance to be sure but, the ref’s call certainly changed the game entirely. How can you call yourselves fans when you turn your back on this club when the result doesn’t go our way? The lads fought extremely hard yesterday but just couldn’t put it together for a goal. We played with the Reds and outplayed them in many regards. This was a fabulous season which the whole lot of us never imagined was possible at the beginning. Then with all the injuries and stadium set backs, games in which we were trailing late and were able to fight back for results. It was a struggle but we made it. I’m not saying 2nd place is good enough because it is not. We need to now invest to get this club over the line, however to say some of the things I have seen over the last 18 hours disappoints me. We all laughed at the Arsenal fans as they tore their team apart following the defeat to Chelsea and now we are doing the same thing to our players. Do we need changes? Sure. They are coming Eriksen is clearly on his way out and we banked close to 100 mil from the champs league run. That’s around 150 million for Poch to spend bringing in some fresh new faces. I am convinced more than ever after that game yesterday that we will be back, that we CAN play with anyone. We are good enough to lift a trophy and it’s gonna happen sooner rather than later. Settle down people this is not the end but, the beginning of what is going to be the best time in history to be a SPURS supporter. Please don’t cheapen that with your negativity, if that is how you feel take your ass across town to the Emirates and watch that sorry excuse for a club because we certainly don’t need that type of negativity after such a positive season.

  2. Don’t know where you getting your feedback Matt but everyone I’ve spoken to yes disappointed but priñoud and looking forward to next dlsesson ..COYS
