Liverpool send Spurs a classy message following Champions League

Tottenham Hotspur came up short against Liverpool in the all-English battle for the honour of being crowned as the champions of Europe.

Liverpool won a controversial penalty inside 30 seconds which Mo Salah converted from the spot before substitute Divock Origi wrapped up the win late on with a strike into the bottom corner of the net.

Despite both goals, it was Tottenham who has the better of the match and possession but failed to make it count in the final third of the pitch.

It was a heartbreaking end for what has been a rollercoaster of a European campaign for Tottenham yet just didn’t threaten enough on the night even with Harry Kane recalled to the starting line up in place of Lucas Moura who can feel aggrieved to have lost his place considering his heroics in the semi-final against Ajax.

Liverpool took to Twitter earlier today to offer their thanks to Tottenham in what is a classy gesture from the Anfield outfit.
