“Lloris is a dodgy keeper” – Premier League winner slams Spurs skipper

Chris Sutton has claimed that it is time for Tottenham Hotspur to swap Hugo Lloris with Paulo Gazzaniga as the club’s number one goalkeeper.

Sutton, who won the Premier League title with Blackburn Rovers now works as a football pundit and has suggested that Gazzaniga would be a better option.

Gazzaniga has impressed when given the opportunity to deputise for Lloris this season and has overtaken Michel Vorm as his understudy.

Lloris has been at Spurs since he joined the club in 2012 from Lyon for a fee of £7.9million (Independent), but Sutton believes that the World Cup winner is unreliable.

The Spurs skipper has made some notable errors this season including Barcelona’s opening goal in the Champions League clash at Wembley when he raced out of his box which allowed Philippe Coutinho to finish.

While it would be easy to throw Lloris under the bus, Spurs fans must remember that he stuck by us through thick and thin when we were playing Europa League football in far-flung places against European minnows.

Speaking exclusively to BBC Radio Five Live, Sutton said: “I think Gazzaniga is a better option than Hugo Lloris. Lloris is a dodgy keeper, Gazzaniga is a better option.”
