Lord Sugar takes to Twitter to criticise Spurs during loss to Southampton

Former Tottenham Hotspur chairman Lord Sugar criticised the performance of some of Jose Mourinho’s side during the 1-0 loss at Southampton.

It could not have been a worse start to 2020 for Jose Mourinho’s side, who lost another opportunity to close the gap on the top four whilst also suffering injury concerns to Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Kane.

Sugar was critical of the Tottenham midfield for being sloppy in possession against the Saints.

It was third league defeat of Mourinho’s reign which leaves them six points adrift of Chelsea in fourth, who were held to a 1-1 draw at Brighton earlier in the afternoon.

Spurs are starting to show the form and levels of performance which saw Mauricio Pochettino sent packing by Daniel Levy.

Opinion

Why Sugar stopped at just the midfield with his criticism begs the question. Spurs were awful all over the pitch; the defence are a liability, the midfield lack creativity and the forwards do not create space for each other.
