Lyon president Aulas clarifies Ndombele transfer claim by former player

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has hit back at reports that suggested that behavioural issues are the main reason why they are selling Tanguy Ndombele.

Former Lyon goalkeeper Nicolas Puydebois has claimed that Aulas may want to shift the French midfielder from his ranks due to some previous issues involving Ndombele.

He said in an interview with FootRadio: “I remember that the president had mentioned the behaviour of Tanguy Ndombele after his first selections for the national team. The president is a rather resentful person who remembers things. Is there in the process of the president to separate a behavior problem internally that is not necessarily too audible?”

“That is only one thing that I cannot rule out because in general it happens like that, that is to say, we put the dressing room first, despite the talent and qualities of the player.

“That behaviour may be something to mention to do with this sudden desire to sell to other clubs one of our best players.”

Aulas has taken to Twitter to squash the claims by Puydebois by instead praising Ndombele’s talent and insisting that his future is in his own hands.

His Tweet translated into English says: “Nicolas Puydebois has cracked the great secret of Aulas in the transfer window! In the series of nonsense in public, Nico has surpassed himself,”

“Tanguy is a great talent, is one exquisite boy that we would like to keep, but it is always the player who decides!”

Ndombele has already hinted that he would be interested in a move to Tottenham Hotspur after describing the North London outfit as a ‘big club’ during a recent interview with French news outlet Telefoot.

Spurs are are said to be on the verge of completing a club record transfer for Ndombele with Football.London claiming that it could all be finalised this week.

The box to box midfielder is expected to sign a five-year contract with Mauricio Pochettino’s side (Sky Sports).
