Manager concerned over Pavlyuchenko

Russia boss Guus Hiddink admits that he is concerned by Roman Pavlyuchenko’s lack of first-team football at Tottenham.

The striker has only played 30 minutes of top-flight football this season and has been linked with a January exit to Zenit St Petersburg.

‘I’m concerned,’ said Hiddink. ‘Pavlyuchenko has no match practice at Tottenham and his body seems to be unaccustomed to intense stress.

‘I can’t say that we had an intense workout, but I’ve connected the nature of his injury with a lack of match practice for Roman.

He added: ‘The fact that he doesn’t play, and wasn’t even in the squad for the last match, disturbs both us and him.’
