Mauricio Pochettino fears that Harry Kane’s season is over

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he fears that Harry Kane’s season may have come to an abrupt end.

Heung-min Son scored the only goal of the game with Tottenham running out as 1-0 winners against Manchester City but there is no doubt the victory was soured by Kane’s injury.

Just before the hour mark, Kane twisted his left ankle in a challenge with Fabian Delph and immediately went down the tunnel, unable to put any weight on it.

The injury was sustained to the same ankle that kept him sidelined from the middle of January and only returned to action six weeks ago.

It is his third such injury in 13 months and there are huge concerns that he may not be seen in a Spurs shirt again this season.

Pochettino revealed that Kane will undergo evaluation tomorrow and admitted that it looks to be a similar injury which will certainly be a huge frustration to the prolific forward.

Pochettino told BT Sport as quoted by the BBC “We need to check tomorrow but it looks like it is the same ankle and similar injury. It is very sad and very disappointing. We are going to miss him – maybe for the rest of the season. It is a worry for us. We hope it is not a big issue. But there is not to much time to recover. He twisted his ankle so we will see how it reacts in a few hours.”
