Messi to Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino has joked that he would like to bring Lionel Messi to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Spurs boss who recently committed his future to the club with a new five year contract for himself and his coaching staff amid speculation that he could take over the vacant managerial role at Real Madrid which he has been linked with on almost a daily basis to the frustration of the Tottenham faithful.

Pochettino will instead lead his Tottenham side to their third successive Champions League campaign where they could face the Barcelona and Argentina ace next season. Imagine, Spurs taking on Messi and his Barcelona team within the new stadium would certainly be a sight to see.

Asked by ESPN if his only chance of coaching Messi one day was to manage the Argentine team Newell’s Old Boys where Messi has promised to play for a season before retires, Pochettino said: “No.

“I would like to persuade him to come to pass through Tottenham first before he goes to Newell’s.”

We can all dream of one day seeing Messi in a Spurs shirt, but it’s certainly great to see Pochettino in such fine form.
