Mesut Ozil mocks Tottenham Hotspur on social media

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has taken to Twitter to mock Tottenham Hotspur’s lack of trophies.

The German international was asked by a supporter whether he would rather play for Tottenham or retire.

Ozil responded by claiming that he would only move to Tottenham if he ever did not wish to win any silverware.

Tottenham’s last taste of a competitive trophy came back in 2008 when Juande Ramos’ side ran out 2-1 winners against Mourinho’s Chelsea courtesy of an extra time header from Jonathan Woodgate.

Despite having finished above Arsenal once again last season, Spurs fans have had to witness their fierce rivals lift the FA Cup which condemned the lilywhites to the qualifying rounds of the Europa League while the Gunners enter at the group stages.

Arteta’s side also began the 2020/21 campaign with a trophy after beating champions Liverpool in the Community Shield following a penalty shoot out.
