Michael Owen on who he thinks will win between Spurs and Man Utd

Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen has given his view on who he thinks will win between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

Spurs are looking to win three consecutive top-flight meetings with Manchester United for the first time since September 1960.

The match will see Mauricio Pochettino face United for the first time since he has almost been linked on a daily basis to the Old Trafford managerial hot seat following the departure of Jose Mourinho.

Spurs will again be without the midfield trio of Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama but could have Jan Vertonghen back available.

Despite Owen’s allegiances to United, he believes that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will suffer his first defeat at the hands of Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Should that happen, Spurs fans can only imagine the fuel that the likes of Sky Sports will add to the bonfire they have already created with their Pochettino to United agenda.

Owen told BetVictor: “This is the acid test for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s new-look Manchester United and the Norwegian is looking to emulate the legendary (Sir) Matt Busby and win his first five league games.

“Spurs won the reverse fixture 3-0 at Old Trafford earlier in the season, but this is a United side playing with pace and flair and not lacking in confidence.

“United have lost their last three league games at Spurs and they could lose a fourth – but what I do expect is to see chances and goals at both ends in what promises to be a cracking game and a true barometer of where this new United are in relation to the other elite PL sides.

“Prediction: 3-2.”
