Michael Owen predicts whether Spurs will beat former side Newcastle United

Michael Owen has shared his prediction of the outcome of tomorrow’s Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

Mauricio Pochettino will once again be without the services of Dele Alli, Ben Davies and Harry Kane who all miss out through injury.

The manager revealed earlier today that Spurs’ forgotten man Vincent Janssen has returned to the first team squad but is not ready to make the leap to returning to the match day side.

Newcastle broke their transfer record earlier this week when they signed Miguel Almiron from MLS side Atlanta United, surpassing the previous record which ironically they paid for Owen when they brought him to St James’ Park from Real Madrid in 2005.

Almiron will be ineligible to face Spurs at Wembley as he is still yet to collect his visa, meaning he is unable to work in the United Kingdom.

Owen, who now works as a football pundit believes that Tottenham will tighten their grip on a top four place by beating the Magpies.

He told BetVictor: “Two late goals gave Spurs a welcome three points against Watford midweek and they have picked up four more points at this point of the season (24 games) than they have ever had at the corresponding stage of the Premier League – and they are still seven points behind leaders Liverpool!

“The Magpies gained a famous win at home to Manchester City on Tuesday when they played with great discipline and organisation and took their opportunities when they arose roared on by the Toon Army. United left nothing out on the St James’ Park pitch midweek, however, have lost their last seven games at Wembley and I think the hosts will keep the points in the capital.”
