Midfielder linked with Spurs reveals he has no intention of leaving current club

Any hopes which Tottenham Hotspur may have harboured over a move for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips appeared to have taken a blow.

The 24-year-old who came through the academy ranks at the Elland Road outfit has revealed that he would like to remain at the club for the rest of his career.

Football Insider claimed last month that Spurs were prepared to make a move for Philips if Leeds failed to secure promotion to the Premier League this season.

The North Londonders were said to have registered an interest in the versatile midfielder before he penned a new five-year deal last summer.

Leeds are currently top of the Championship table, a point ahead of West Bromwich Albion only to see their progress halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Philips, who has historically operated as a central midfielder has been utilised by Marcelo Bielsa in more of a holding role since the Argentine took charge in 2018.

He told May’s edition of FourFourTwo magazine as part of their 50 best players in the Football League feature (as quoted by The Sun): “I want to spend my career at Leeds and see the club doing well in the Premier League.

“I’m just enjoying every minute right now.”
