Midfielder set to be offered new deal to ward off transfer interest

Aston Villa are set to offer Jack Grealish an improved contract after no breakthrough has been made with Tottenham Hotspur over a possible transfer.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a switch to Spurs on what seems like almost an hourly basis over the course of the summer

According to The Mirror, Tottenham had lodged a £25million bid for Grealish only to see it rejected by Villa’s new owners. The player himself is said to be keen to move to Mauricio Pochettino’s side to fulfil his ambition of playing Champions League football.

Grealish trained with his Villa team-mates this morning ahead of their match with Wigan Athletic this weekend and as things stand, he will be pulling on a Villa shirt until the end of December, at least.

He currently earns around £20,000-a-week at Villa, with two years left on his current deal.
