Milan Skriniar provides update on his future amidst reported Spurs interest

Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Milan Skriniar has revealed that he expects to stay at Inter Milan beyond the summer.

It was reported ahead of the January transfer window that Antonio Conte wanted to reunite with Skriniar at Spurs (CalcioMercato) but the North London club seemingly failed to make an approach for the centre-back.

Spurs have been backed to potentially reignite their interest in the Slovak when the transfer window reopens in the summer (Telegraph).

Gazzetta Dello Sport reported earlier this month (13/03/22 edition – as relayed by Sport Witness) that Inter were ready to offer Skriniar a new contract in order to prevent the likes of Tottenham from snapping up the 28-year-old.

The report added that the Nerrazuri view the centre-back, whose current deal runs until the summer of 2023, as ‘irreplaceable’.

Skriniar has now insisted that he expects the Serie A giants to offer him a new deal sooner rather than later.

He told Sport.sk: “I think I’ll stay at Inter. I have a contract until 2023. We’ll see if the club’s representatives propose me a new contract.

“I believe so. I believe they are satisfied with my services, we’ll see. But I think I’ll stay.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Skriniar is likely to be at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist as we have a fair few options for the right centre-back role. I think Conte’s priority in the summer would be to strengthen at left centre-back, which is why I expect the club to prioritise moves for the likes of Pau Torres, Sven Botman and Alessio Romagnoli over the Inter star.
