Montreal Impact reveal further details on Wanyama’s exit from Spurs

MLS side Montreal Impact have revealed that Victor Wanyama was allowed to join the MLS outfit on a free transfer from Tottenham Hotspur.

Wanyama will tie up a three-year deal when he receives an international transfer certificate and passes his medical with the Canadian-based side.

The Kenyan international was said to have been close to leaving Spurs in the summer in a £13.6millon deal to Club Brugge only for a deal to fail to materialise (BBC).

In January, he saw potential loan deals to both Amiens and Leganes both fall through after discussions broke down over the terms of the loan deal (Daily Mail).

In Tottenham’s official statement regarding the exit of departure, they did not mention a fee but instead referred to an agreement being reached.

Wanyama has been named as a designated player by Montreal which allows them to exceed their salary cap for a player (MLS Soccer), it was said that the former Southampton player earned around £65,000-a-week in North London (Daily Mail).
