Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to respond to a Tweet from the club regarding the new stadium.

Yesterday, the club confirmed that they will increase the capacity of their stadium after an application was approved by Haringey Council.

The stadium opened its doors in April after several delays when Crystal Palace were the visitors in the Premier League and now have the green light to increase the capacity from the current 62,062 to 62,214 seats.

Tottenham are said to have spent £1billion (The Mail) on the development of the state of the art arena which also contains dedicated facilities to host NFL matches in North London as part of a 10-year partnership.

The extra 152 seats also gives Spurs fans extra bragging rights when comparing the capacity of their stadium to the 60,260 supporters which the Emirates is able to cater for (Sky Sports).

Here’s what some fans had to say on social media.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Levy is profit before Glory
Has not made enough money avail to improve the squad
So need answers from Levy And Lewis so we know what they are trying to achieve!
As it does not appear to be building a team to challenge for Titles or trophies
If that’s the case it Profit only
So from my point of view they can go

  2. 18 months and one player signing and the promise of further signings and Levy and his board are only interested in buying a couple of rows of plastic seating·
You and your board Levy are starting to piss me off!!!

  3. OK.Yes, Spurs need to sign additional players without losing the talent already in the squad, but a seemingly small increase in th stadium capacity means another 157 fans that get to see the game. Let’s be positive!
