Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho has explained why he did not include Tanguy Ndombele against Brighton.
The French midfielder was nowhere to be seen within today’s match day squad against the Seagulls with Mourinho deciding to select a central midfield pair of Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks.
Sissoko and Winks both picked up their fifth yellow cards of the season, respectively which will see the duo serve a one match suspension and miss the trip to Norwich City on Saturday.
Ndombele’s absence had many Spurs fans on social media questioning his whereabouts with some fearing that he was once again injured.
Following the 2-1 victory, Mourinho has confirmed that the club record signing is not currently injured but instead revealed that Ndombele told him yesterday that he did not feel ready to play due to concerns that he could suffer a recurrence of an injury.
Ndombele has already missed game time this season with hamstring and groin issues.
PA Sport journalist Jonathan Veal confirmed Mourinho’s comments on Twitter.
On Ndombele: "I cannot say he is injured, I can say that yesterday he told me he was not feeling in condition to play the game. Not based on injuries, based on fears of previous injuries of the season. I cannot say he is injured." #THFC #COYS
