Andre Villas-Boas has ruled out the possibility of Lewis Holtby joining Tottenham in January.

The 22-year-old Schalke midfielder will join Spurs in July on a free transfer after his contract expired at the Bundesliga club. However there was speculation he could move to White Hart Lane this month if an agreement could be reached betweeen both clubs.

AVB told the press ahead of Saturday’s trip to QPR: “When you reach an agreement with a player that is a free transfer in the summer, there is always that possibility, but it is not something we are looking to do.”

    • I do like AVB's other comments that he wont't buy a striker in January. While we could do with a striker I agree, I see this as him saying "we will not be held to ransom over prices." Chances are, Togo won't last long in the ACN, and Ade will be back soon enough. Defoe did it by himself early in the season and relished it. But after saying all that, I do believe we are a little light up front. Maybe a young striker would be the ideal move?

  1. His comments suggest he isn’t happy with some of our attacking midfielders, or at least wants to move someone on. He spoke about having enough in his position now, so what will change between now and summer? I might be reading into it too much, but just struck me as i heard the interview.
