Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to reacts to Mauricio Pochettino’s team selection for the North London derby against Arsenal.
There has been one notable change to the starting line up to the Spurs side that takes to the field at the Emirates and that is the omission of Toby Alderweireld.
The Belgian defender has been named among the substitutes for this afternoon’s clash with the returning Juan Foyth instead partnering Jan Vertonghen at the heart of the Spurs defence.
Alderweireld started both matches against Chelsea last Saturday in the Premier League and Wednesday night’s Champions League win against Inter Milan at Wembley.
It could possibly be that Pochettino has decided to give Alderweireld’s legs a rest, but some fans will question whether a derby against Arsenal is the right game to do so.
Jan Vertonghen has recently returned from a hamstring injury while fellow defender Davinson Sanchez is sidelined with a similar problem.
Here’s what some of the Spurs fans had to say about Alderweireld’s omission.
No Toby wtf

No Lamela? Alderweireld on the bench? Bit of a risk but I'm so glad we've got Son, Dele and Eriksen in the starting XI. We always play our beat when them 3 are in the side #COYS #NorthLondonDerby #Spurs

But why juan instead of alderweireld in such an important game like this

I mean I rate Foyth, I really do, but really… dropping Toby for this game and playing a very untested young centre back…? That’s risky. But, in Poch we believe….

For the first time in my life I disagree with Poch. Alderweireld should start this match.
