“No way” – Jose Mourinho emphatically rules out midfielder leaving on loan

Jose Mourinho has made it clear that there is no chance of Harry Winks leaving Tottenham Hotspur on loan next month.

The academy graduate has barely featured since returning to North London from the international break last month.

Winks has previously admitted that he has been concerned that his lack of game time could affect his chances of being named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for next summer’s European Championships (Independent).

Everton have been linked with a potential loan approach for the 24-year-old with Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti said to be an admirer of both Winks and Dele Alli (The Mirror).

Mourinho has already confirmed that Winks has paid him a visit at his office at Hotspur Way to discuss his future at his boyhood club.

Mourinho was asked during the pre-Liverpool press conference whether the midfielder could depart in order to get regular first-team football elsewhere until the end of the current campaign.

The Portuguese was emphatic with his answer, telling Football.London: “Winks on loan in January, no way.”
