Ossie Ardiles sums up the 7-0 thrashing of Tranmere

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ossie Ardiles was full of praise of his old side’s performance in the 7-0 thrashing of Tranmere Rovers.

It was a comprehensive victory for Mauricio Pochettino’s side who have now booked their place in the fourth round draw of the FA Cup following the stroll at Prenton Park.

The League Two side started the tie well and tried to put pressure on Tottenham and nearly went into the half time break at 0-0, only for Serge Aurier to break the deadlock on 40 minutes with a 25-yard rocket.

The second half was torture for Micky Mellon’s side who conceded six goals. Fernando Llorente bagged a hat-trick, Serge Aurier doubled his tally, Heung-min Son bagged one and even Harry Kane came off the bench to score his 19th goal of the season.

The 7-0 victory is the club’s biggest away win in all competitive matches since the club was first founded in 1882.

Ardiles took to Twitter after the match.
