AVB: Villa must give Lambert time

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is sure Aston Villa have the right man at the helm in Paul Lambert.

AVB saw his side beat the struggling Midlanders 4-0 at Villa Park on Boxing Day thanks to a Gareth Bale hat-trick and a strike from Jermain Defoe.

Villa have now conceded twelve goals in their last two Premier League outings and the Spurs boss believes that they must keep faith in Paul Lambert to guide them out of the hole they find themselves in.

Our focus now turns to Sunderland on Saturday in an early afternoon kick-off and lets hope we can get another three points on the road.

“They were a different team at the beginning,” said Villas-Boas after the match.

“When Paul changed the structure to five at the back the results improved for them and they managed to get some important ones.

“I think for them now it is important to find stability defensively, looking at what is happening.

“I think Paul is the right person. He is developing a very young team, and it has nothing to do with teams of the past.

“So hopefully, by him being given time to do that, Villa can achieve the results they want.”
