Paul Merson on whether Spurs will retain second place against Wolves

Sky Sports football pundit Paul Merson has predicted that Tottenham Hotspur will run out as comfortable winners against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side find themselves in second place in the Premier League table following the 5-0 thrashing of Bournemouth and will be looking to continue their recent run of form.

Spurs have scored eleven goals in their last two league outings and Merson is backing the lethal finishing to continue at Wembley tomorrow afternoon.

Wolves head into the match having won three of their last five matches, but have lost and drawn the last two.

In the return fixture earlier this year, Spurs were cruising at 3-0, only for a couple of defensive lapses from Juan Foyth which allowed Wolves back into the game and set up a nervy 3-2 finish.

Tottenham could be boosted by the return of Dele Alli after the midfielder missed the win against Bournemouth with a hamstring problem.

Merson told Sky Sports: “Wolves were fortunate the other day at Fulham. Aleksandar Mitrovic ran them ragged, so I dread to think what Harry Kane will do to them. I think there will be more goals for Spurs here – I cannot see how Wolves will live with them. Spurs are a very, very good team and it has just clicked. They are one of the teams who are just going out and playing at the moment, expressing themselves and are full of confidence. More of the same I think.

Prediction: 4-1.”
