Merson and Lawro have their say on Everton v Spurs

Mark Lawrenson and Paul Merson have had their say on their thoughts ahead of the Everton vs Tottenham match.

Although we actually don’t value the opinions of these two pundits, especially Merson – it’s always humorous to see how bitter he is about us.

Lawrenson told BBC Sport: “Everton will concede because they are not the best defensively. In fact their defence, with the likes of Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines at full-back, might be better going forward than they are defending.

“Phil Jagielka – who has been out for a couple of months with a knee injury – might have to be pressed into service sooner rather than later.

“At the other end, it will be interesting to see Romelu Lukaku going up against fellow Belgians Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen in the Spurs defence.

“Everton have not won at home since beating Villa on 21 November. I think they are due one.”

Lawro’s prediction: 2-1

Merson told Sky Sports: “I haven’t been going against Tottenham recently, but I think Everton will come out on top in a high-scoring encounter.

“They’ve got to keep it a little bit tighter, but I see this being a thriller. Both teams only play one way really, and I think they both have firepower to hurt each other. I’ve watched Everton enough this season to know that if they click, they can go on a big run.”

Prediction: 3-2

  1. Could not agree more with you about the bitterness of Merson when he speaks about Spurs and Lawrenson is not much better and as for those two knee bags Savage and Owen who in their right mind gave Savage a show on TV i just would not give him the electric i would rather stay in bed with the tooth ache .

  2. Ironic an ex Livershite (toilet brush head) and ex Arsewipe (paul druggy person) commenting on their rivals score. Neither of whom get many correct scores at all may as well ask your taxi driver just as much chance of predicting the score. Spurs are having a good season and I wish them the best of luck (hopefully someone unexpected at the start of the season wins the league and I have no quarms with that being spurs). However I'm hoping for an Everton win today! COYB :)
