The transfer window is now in full flow ahead of the new Premier League season with plenty of rumours surrounding comings and goings at Tottenham Hotspur.

Christian Eriksen’s future in North London is still somewhat up in the air after the Dane revealed days after the Champions League final defeat to Liverpool that he wants to leave to seek a new challenge (Ekstra Bladet).

With Real Madrid said to be still weighing up a move for Eriksen, it is easy for some fans to simply judge him on the last few months of last season when he was not at his best.

However, when you look at the stats from Opta there is no hiding place from just how influential Eriksen has been in a Spurs shirt.

Since the start of the 2016/2017 Premier League season, the 27-year-old came out on top of all players in the league when it comes to assists and chances created.

Opinion

If Eriksen does head off to the Spanish capital, we will certainly have a huge void to fill when it comes to creating chances for his team mates.

  1. I really dont think one player can replace Eriksen for Spurs. If we were to bring in 2 players similar to Eriksen in advanced creative positions, then that would come at the expense of Son, Kane, Alli or Lucas which is not ideal.
For this reason I think Lo Celso, who can fill a position in midfield where we are not already creative or attacking enough, is ideal, if combined with an advanced creator in Eriksens normal free number 10 position.

I would think Lamela and Lo Celso would be a great combination but then Lamela is not available for selection enough. Van De Beek, Rodrigo De Paul or Hakim Ziyech would be ideal, but I wouldnt say no to James Rodriguez, Riyadh Mahrez, Memphis Depay, James Maddison or Nabil Fekir.
