The traffic information signs in Manchester are renown for their clever and humorous messages ahead of a match day.

The signs, courtesy of Transport for Greater Manchester, have been popping up towards the end of the last season, warning commuters of busy roads ahead of games.

And their method has been to make road-users laugh as well as learn.

Ahead of yesterday’s game between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, they made a funny reference to VAR which was a nod back to the Champions League quarter final second leg.

Little did they know that history would repeat itself at the Etihad.

Opinion

Tottenham Hotspur have twice seen VAR save their skin in matches against Manchester City. However, while some fan complain about the technology, in regards to yesterday’s game they should be focusing their attention on the handball rule rather than VAR.

Spurs were certainly second best, but a draw away from home at the current Premier League champions is certainly a point worth taking.
