Photo: Youngster yet to make his debut trains with Spurs first team

Tottenham were back on the training pitch at Hotspur Way earlier today as part of their preparations for their match against Middlesbrough.

Spurs travel to Boro on Sunday looking to begin their FA Cup campaign with a victory with the club looking to end their eleven year wait for another piece of competitive silverware.

With Jose Mourinho having faced a number of injury issues, he has taken the decision to include a member of the academy side in his training session.

17-year-old Dennis Cirkin has been drafted in following the absence of fellow left-backs, Danny Rose and Ben Davies who are both ruled out through injury.

Cirkin was photographed marking Erik Lamela during the session with the England youth international having been previously praised by Mourinho after signing his first professional contract with the club at the end of November (Football.London).

Mourinho watched video footage of Cirkin in UEFA Youth League action and was impressed with what he saw.

Opinion

With Jan Vertonghen having struggled at left-back against Southampton, Cirkin could have the opportunity to at least make the bench against Boro on Sunday considering both Rose and Davies are absent.

However, we have to be wary of blooding too many young players in a match which represents our best chance of a trophy.
