Player heavily linked with Spurs confirms he has tested positive for coronavirus

Juventus striker Paulo Dybala has revealed on Twitter that he and his girlfriend Oriana Sabatini have tested positive for coronavirus.

He is currently asymptomatic and is self-isolating at home in Italy with his partner.

The 26-year-old was heavily linked with a move to both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United during the summer transfer window (Guardian).

Dybala admitted in an interview in January that he came close to leaving the Serie A giants until the final moments of the window.

Tottenham’s failure to land the Argentine proved to be costly with Harry Kane having been ruled out of action since New Year’s Day and their problems in front of goal became even more difficult when Heung-min Son fractured his arm.

Dybala remained in Turin and has once again impressed this season having scored 13 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions while providing 12 assists (transfermarkt).

He is the third Juve player affected by the pandemic after defender Daniele Rugani and midfielder Blaise Matuidi (BBC).
