PLAYER RATINGS: How the Tottenham players rated vs West Brom

Hugo Lloris – He did fairly well when called to action against Berahino and Gardner’s long range efforts but he could have done better with Morrison’s header.

Eric Dier – He was rarely tested by Sessegnon and he was comfortable. He provided attacking option but did not affect the game.

Danny Rose – He got into really decent positions but he either couldn’t cross the ball well enough or couldn’t find the right pass. He was caught in position at times by Berahino.

Younes Kaboul – His first game as the Spurs captain was not a good one. He was not confident and was nervous every time against the pacey Berahino and Sessegnon.

Vlad Chiriches – He had an awful game as he was terrible on the ball, terrible off the ball and at one-on ones. He did nothing useful all game long and proved he should be dropped immediately.

Etienne Capoue – He was the man of the match because of his presence in front of the back four. Without him, West Brom could have scored 2-3 more. He could have been better with his passing as he switched the ball most of the time.

Christian Eriksen – He did not start brightly but he grew into the game and almost had an assist with a great cross for Adebayor. However, he was terrible from set plays.

Mousa Dembele – Typical performance from the Belgian as he was strong and decisive on the ball but lacked creativity going forward.

Nacer Chadli – He was anonymous all game long and he did not even try to take responsibility and create an opportunity.

Erik Lamela – He was the liveliest attacker from the get go as he tried to use his trickery to create chances. However, he couldn’t provide much even though he worked hard all afternoon.

Emmanuel Adebayor – He will probably complain about the lack of opportunities but he should have put his team up front on two occasions. Still the best striker option on the squad though.

Subs

Paulinho – Did nothing to prove himself to Pochettino as he just jogged around the pitch and gave short and simple passes. He also gave away the ball too many times.

Roberto Soldado – He should have scored when his snapshot was hit right at Foster. He looked lively but he also suffered from lack of creativity.

Aaron Lennon – He was a late sub but he could not spark a comeback. Although, he looked good enough to replace Chadli.
