Tottenham Player Ratings vs Fulham

Luka Modric - Header

Gomes (7) – Good save in first half from Zamora. Took a knock when making that save and let’s be kind and say that that explains his shit kicking.

Corluka (7) – Never troubled by Duff or Gera. Supported Bentley well.

Bale (8) – Outstanding attacking play again. Some odd decision making occasionally but overall excellent. Assou-Ekotto will struggle to get back in.

King (7) – Coped easily with Zamora and lasted the full ninety minutes! Blimey!

Dawson (6) – Played well defensively but I’ve knocked a point off for his persistent hoofing.

Bentley (7) – Looks so much better when he ignores the fancy stuff and just plays the simple balls. Looked like he’d been told to get stuck in judging by a number of his early tackles. Some good corners.

Huddlestone (6) – Poor in 1st half, maybe still feeling his knock? Vastly improved in second.

Palacios (7) – Fantastic in the second half I thought. Gave the ball away too much in the first.

Modric (9) – Superb tonight, a constant threat especially when combining with Bale.

Defoe (6) – Worked hard but never at the races. Struggled against the big men at the back for Fulham and rarely found space. One shot I think. My mate blames Jordan.

Crouch (7) – Another good workmanlike performance. Took his goal very neatly.

  1. How can Bentley get a 7 ? He kept on wandering infield all the time and made no effort to close down the full back when he was in possesion. He did a few fancy tricks in the 2nd half which gifted possesion to Fulham. His crosses were generally over hit and wasteful. He’s a lazy player and we don’t have a team to carry someone with average crossing and no pace who wants to play for themselves.
I’d rather have seen Modric on the right and Rose on the left.
Hopefully a team will come along and take Bentley off our hands.

  2. Tobster, lay off Bents he did the best he could. Because he was on it allowed Modric to play on the left where him and Bale had excellent games. If Bently keeps it simple he can be very effective and he gets my vote.

  3. Not sure what game you were watching tobster, I saw him on a couple of occasions tracking back and even put a tackle in by the corner flag! Obviously not a patch on Lennon, but if can show the same attitude that Keane apparently shows behind the scenes I’d be happy to keep him.

  4. I thought Bale and Modric were outstanding yesterday – and it was easily the best performance from Modric since returning from injury. Great to see Bale on a winning PL Spurs side at last – and another man-of-the-match award will hopefully improve his confidence even further. I don’t think many of us Spurs fans ever doubted his ability and now hopefully we will see the best of Gareth Bale in a Tottenham shirt – and maybe Fergie will now start to regret missing out on signing him.
