Poch opens up on lack of summer signings

Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he has no regrets regarding Tottenham Hotspur’s lack of transfer activity.

His side became the first in Premier League history not to bring in any fresh faces during the summer transfer window since its inception.

Despite not spending any money in the off season, Spurs are currently enjoying their joint best ever start to a Premier League campaign having amassed eighteen points from our opening eight fixtures.

The manager admits that he did attempt to sign players during the summer but has no regrets given where we currently find ourselves in the table.
With the club suffering somewhat of an injury crisis at the start of the season with Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen all finding themselves sidelined, there have been times where we have been thin on the ground for quality on the bench.
Pochettino told Sky Sports: “Look I told you from day I am never going to charge the walls of my boss. He’s my boss, he’s the owner of the club.”It was difficult to sign the players that we needed, that was impossible and I am happy with the squad that we have, 25 players, we have no regrets and we are happy.

“When we started the season with three wins and we were top of the table I think people were talking in a different way and saying how clever Tottenham were to keep all their squad from last season.

“I have to remind everyone this is our best start after eight games. The perception changed when we lost to Inter Milan and Barcelona in the Champions League but we have one more point than last season.

“I am not happy with that because we are fifth in the table and the ambition is to be on the top but at the same time we are realistic after all the circumstance we suffered in the summer with the World Cup and everything.

“But we keep fighting and we are very close to the top of the table.”
