Pochettino admits he is considering bringing midfielder back to Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he is considering recalling Josh Onomah from his loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday.

Tottenham Hotspur are experiencing somewhat of a central midfield crisis to complement the striking issues the club are currently facing.

22-year-old Harry Winks is Tottenham’s most experienced fully fit midfielder at present due to the current injury problems.

Moussa Sissoko has already been ruled out of action for the next couple of weeks due to the groin injury that saw him had to be replaced just before half time against Manchester United.

Victor Wanyama is still rehabbing from his knee problem, while Mousa Dembele has left the club for the lure of the Chinese Super League.

Eric Dier is considered only fit enough to be named among the subs for Sunday’s trip to Fulham which leaves the inexperienced Oliver Skipp as the likely midfield partner to Winks.

Onomah joined the Championship outfit in the summer on a season-long loan deal and has been back at Hotspur Way to receive treatment for a hamstring injury he sustained against Middlesbrough on Boxing Day.

Pochettino he told Football.London: “Yes he is back here. I think it is going to be difficult but we will see in the next few weeks. We still have 13 days to decide, but he is injured.”

When asked if he was considering a recall, he added: “Yes. Considering.”
