Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was understandably frustrated his side were on the losing side of an entertaining, nip-and-tuck encounter at Liverpool.

But the Argentinian is keen to move on quickly from the setback with his side also in the hunt for a top-four finish.

“(I’m) disappointed with the result because I think it was a game (where) we deserved one point,” he said.

“I think it was a great game, we played well to try and win the three points, but this is football and we’re disappointed with the result.

“But we need to accept that football is like this, we played for the three points. I’m proud for the efforts but we need to look forward.”

  1. IMHO, if Liverpool plays a 3-4-3 formation, we should have approached them using a 4-5-1 instead of a 4-2-3-1 formation to tackle their wing play and to stay congested in the middle of the park. Our midfielders trio of Dembele, Bentaleb, Mason and our attacking wingers of Ericksen and Lamela should have stay compact there and try to contain Gerrard, Henderson, Markovic and Moreno by breaking up their attacks and stop them from supplying through balls to their forwards. We should have not let them play their game by committing our players too far up the pitch, thus causing a problem for ourselves in chasing their shadows when they are attacking us. What I am trying to say is to trybreaking down their attack right in the middle of the field and then launch our counter attack back at them, catching them off guard. We do that by playing one touch quick football but we did not perform to our highest level. The last ten mins of the game, once again, we losed focus and some of them were caught ball watching. It resulted we conceding the third goal and we went back home empty handed.
