Pochettino hints that Spurs player has a future at the club

Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that Georges-Kevin Nkoudou could still have a future at Tottenham Hotspur.

The 23-year-old has become something of a forgotten man at Spurs having endured a difficult time at the club since his switch from Marseille in 2016.

Nkoudou was brought on in the 86th minute of the match against Fulham after Dele Alli had suffered a hamstring injury.

With the score at 1-1, it looked as if Spurs were set to pay for the absence of proven goalscorers Harry Kane and Heung-min Son until Nkoudou played a beautiful cross into the Fulham penalty area on 93 minutes which was met by Harry Winks to give Mauricio Pochettino’s side a late win.

It was Nkoudou’s first Premier League appearance of the season, with the player rarely being named in the match day squad when Pochettino has a full squad to choose from.

However, given the club’s current injury crisis, Pochettino has revealed that the winger has the opportunity to make further appearances.

Nkoudou has been heavily linked with a move away from the club during the current transfer window.

Pochettino told Football.London: “You know, at the moment, like other players, we struggle with players we have injured and of course he has the possibility to play.

“If we see the fixtures that we have ahead, we need him and all the players we had today. With all our injuries, with Sonny out, with Dembele out, still Wanyama. I think many situations can arrive. I think we need all the players today. Of course he’s disappointed because he didn’t play too much until now, but now if there is the possibility like today and he shows this type of performance – i think the cross was perfect – of course he will have the possibility to play.”
