Pochettino receives rap by UEFA over Champions League incident; punishment handed out

Mauricio Pochettino has avoided the prospect of having to watch the Champions League final against Liverpool from the stand.

The Spurs manager has been given a one-match ban linked to the delayed start of the semi-final first leg with Ajax, but his suspension has been deferred for a probation period of one year.

The incident led to the club also being fined d 10,000 euros (£8,758) along with a secondary fine of 5,000 euros (£4,381) after a supporter ran onto the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium pitch during the quarter final first leg against Manchester City.

Managers of both clubs are held responsible if a Champions League game does not get under way on time, regardless of the circumstances, and it is the club’s second instance of the offence this season.

Tottenham booked their place in the final with a remarkable second half comeback against Ajax in the second leg which saw Lucas Morua score a hat-trick to send his side through final.
