Pochettino’s worrying verdict on Harry Kane’s injury

Tottenham Hotspur fans are in for a worrying wait after Harry Kane suffered a worrying injury in the 1-0 defeat against Manchester United.

The striker was left injured on the floor following a heavy challenge as Spurs tried to score an equaliser deep into injury time.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was asked after the game about the fitness of the prolific forward and admitted that the initial signs are a concern regarding an ankle problem.

Kane has a history of ankle issues after damaging lateral ligaments in his right ankle in March of last year.

When Kane has been sidelined in the past, Spurs have relied on Heung-min Son to step up and lead the front line. However, they will be unable to do so on this occasion with the 26-year-old about to jet off to represent South Korea in the Asian Cup which could rule him out of action for up to five matches if his nation make it to the final of the tournament.

BBC commentator Steve Wilson asked Pochettino about Kane, the Spurs boss said: “I am worried. This could be a big problem for us.”
