Premier League pair to battle for Spurs defender

Danny Rose is being linked with a move to another Premier League club, should a potential move to Manchester United fail to materialise.

The Tottenham Hotspur left-back is expected by many to leave the club this summer, and according to the Sunday Mirror, Everton have emerged as a potential suitor.

Rose has had an injury hit season, which has seen him play a cameo role behind Ben Davies who has played the vast majority of matches at left-back.

The England international earns around £60,000-a-week at Spurs and has made no secret of his desire to move back ‘north’ before the end of his career and feels that he deserves to earn more than he does.

He said in an interview with The Sun back in August: “As with everyone else in my team, in my opinion, I am worth more than I am getting.

“In any walk of life, if you think you are worth a certain amount, why settle for less? I am not that person.”

His comments led to him being fined two weeks wages after Tottenham were left furious by the public outburst.

Everton left-back Leighton Baines is 34 and the Toffees are looking for a long-term successor, Rose is still only 27 and when fully fit is England’s first-choice.

The report claims that if Rose moved to Manchester United, he could expect to earn around £120,000-a-week at Old Trafford. Everton are said to be ready to move for Rose, who has made just 16 appearances this season, but would have to part with £37 million to land the player.
