Premier League winner labels Spurs star a cheat

Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton has accused Heung-min Son of cheating during Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-1 win against Leicester City.

The Spurs forward was the subject of an incident on 16 minutes when he went to ground in the penalty area following an outstretched leg from Foxes defender Harry Maguire.

While it looked like a clear penalty after there was contact from Maguire’s leg on the shin of the South Korean, he was instead booked by referee Michael Oliver rather than him awarding a spot kick.

Sutton did not hold back on his criticism of Son by suggesting that the player had over-exaggerated the challenge.

It was the fourth occasion this season where a Spurs player has been booked for simulation in the eyes of the referee.

Goals from Davinson Sanchez, Christian Eriksen and Heung-min Son saw Spurs tighten their grip on a top four finish and keeps the pressure on both Liverpool and Manchester City.

Sutton, who now works as a football pundit told BBC 606: “If he has overexaggerated the dive, which he did do, then he should be booked, shouldn’t he?”

“That’s cheating. It’s cheating if he overexaggerated’s the movement and brings it upon himself.

“I think Tottenham have had more divers more than anybody else this season, haven’t they? I think that’s a fact.”
